My Favorite Places to Study

(I promise I do other things than just study…)

Finals are quickly approaching and finding a good study spot at the library is becoming a difficult task. Here are some other places to try to get a good study sesh in…

The Coffee Shop
I LOVE going to the local coffee shop to do homework and just chill out. It's a cozy feel than relaxes you and gears you up for studying for those finals

Outside
They say the best light to study in is natural light. What better way to get some natural light than to go outside and get some fresh air and do a little studying as well

The Dorm
Believe it or not, studying in your dorm room is a good option. You're already comfortable there, so there's no readjusting to a new atmosphere and getting settled in

What are your favorite places to study?

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

(Don't worry, I'll pay Thanksgiving it's respect…)

Recently my parents made a trip up to Oxford for a little visit.  That means only one thing: take advantage of the parents being here to take a trip to Walmart and get Christmas goodies. It's safe to say I cleaned up…

Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. I love spending time with family, doing a little (or a lot of) shopping, and wrapping presents for my family and friends (as well as wrapping myself up in a cozy blanket).

Happy (almost) Holidays

How to Survive the Rest of the Semester

It's that time of year again. A college student's favorite time. (I say that with complete sarcasm. Ha ha.)

The point between midterm break and Thanksgiving break is the time I like to call the mid semester drag. Or in other words, the I-can't-even time. But surviving these dreaded weeks until turkey day is doable.  I promise.

I like to look ahead at everything I have the rest of the semester and plan ahead. I know, I know, so much work.  But you'll feel so much better after you plan ahead.  Then, every Sunday night I like to make a weekly list of things I want to finish before the weekend. This is good because crossing things off my list means progress and hey, less to do over the weekend.

I also try not to count down the days. It just makes them longer.  Instead I try to take it day by day and look forward to the weekend.  It's not as far away as Thanksgiving.

Happy studying.

Making Your Dorm Room Feel Like Home

When at college, your dorm room is your home away from home. Literally. You eat, sleep, study, socialize, and everything else in this tiny, tiny room.  So why not make it feel like an actual home.

I love to decorate. If that's one thing I regret from freshman year is not bringing enough to decorate with.  This year I made sure I had plenty with me to make my space feel like home. And it really does.  I love spending time relaxing in my room or working on homework.  I have lots of homy items that make it feel comfortable and welcoming.  It's a pretty small space between my roommate and me, but it's a cozy atmosphere.

My books are a must have. If I can't sleep or I have some spare time, I usually turn to a book to read. Also, pillows are a must.  Coming back from class and being able to flop into a pile of pillows (and yes it is a literal flop) is such a nice feeling.

Pictures brighten up a drab room.  I did a few canvas paintings over the summer, and put together a picture board to hang by my bed. I also have a huge picture collage by my bed with lots of pictures from home.

In all, making your dorm room your ideal space is key.  If you feel comfortable and cozy there, you'll feel a lot better and do better in school.
